My Dad competed in Production Car Trials (PCT's) when I was younger and I used to passenger for him. I really couldn’t wait to have a go myself, so at 16 I started competing in PCTs and some grass autotests using Dads’s Vauxhall Nova. This was great fun and led to winning the BTRDA national PCT
championship in 1996 and the RAC national PCT championship in 1997.
After a few years off I really fancied trying hillclimbing and a Mini really appealed! I bought my Mini in 2005, then stripped and rebuilt it ready for my first event in 2007. I am still competing in the same car today.
I work for Western Power Distribution as a Project Engineer.
One of the Classic Championships most successful drivers, Matt is also one of the hardest charging...the Mini often at some pretty extreme angles whilst pushing the more powerful cars for overall fastest times. In wet & damp conditions he is most often unbeatable, setting times even the single seaters can't match!
