Great days motorsport for almost all the championship competitors that made the trek to the Wiltshire Gurston Down hillclimb round. A very dodgy friday with low cloud, drizzle and cold conditions gave way to an ever improving saturday with eventual warm sunny spells. Times generally fell sharply as drivers got reacquainted to this short but fast and (in places) tricky hillclimb.
Commiserations to Andy Tippett who suffered a rare breakage to his beautiful Brabham V8. Andy was fastest overall up to this point so would have almost certainly been the overall class winner. Instead this went to Phil Fisher in his Mallock, followed by Simon Braithwaite in the Escort Mk1 from Mike Broome in the Alexis single seater.
Fastest on scratch in the Sportscar class was Nick Stephens out in his Ginetta having sold the Lotus 51 recently.
Handicap winners were Carole Nicholls in the Nike FF1600 , Callum Barney in his faithful Cortina Mk1 GT and Brian Ashley in his MGB.
