Weather predictions were certainly proved to be correct at a very soggy race day at Loton Park on the sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. A good turnout of cars from the BOC / Aldon championship were present with pretty even numbers across the three classes. Track conditions were very tricky with puddles causing some aquaplaning moments in the first & second runs , then a better first timed run on a still predominently wet track , to ultimately a drying / patchy damp surface on the final run where the best times were generally set.

Single seaters:

Martin Jones was just fastest in his Brabham BT21 from Nick Stephens (Lotus 51) then Les Buck (Pringett Mistrale). Carole Nicholls in her Nike FF1600, Phil Fisher in the Mallock & Andy Tippet in his V8 Brabham BT30 were the other runners in the class. Not the nicest day to be in a single seater getting soaked!

The usual suspects were once again at the front of the Sportscars field. Mike Henney in his Lotus Europa fastest from Callum Barney (MG Midget) then John Newton in the TVR Vixen. Other runners included Steve Phennah & Mike Fisher (MGB Roadsters) & Chris Jones in his 'new' Lotus Seven S4.

A great scrap all day for fastest between Matt Clarke in the rapid Mini & Simon Braithwaite in the Mk1 Escort, just resolved in the Ford's favour on the final run when it could stretch its legs a little in the drying conditions. Simon's time good enough (by 0.02 seconds!) for the overall win from all 3 classes. Third fastest saloon car went to John Louch. Other runners included Steve Louch (Scimitar GTE) , Andy Clarke & Steve Holder (Mini's) , Iain Stainburn & Roger Beard (Scimitar Coupes) & Philip Stader in the Hillman Minx.
