Round 10 - Prescott

Prescott's September British championship meeting was far more enjoyable than most were expecting following some dire weather predictions in the preceeding days. Thankfully most of the rain passed through the Cotswold venue late on Saturday evening this missing the all important track time.

Saturday first practice was dry for the single seaters and most of the saloons, becoming increasingly damp for the sportscar class. Several drivers opted to miss the second run as the conditions were wet / greasy and decidedly tricky.

Sunday mornings third practice took place on a slippy damp track, which then dried for both the final 'timed' competitive runs of the weekend (one before lunch , one late afternoon).

Class winners on the day were Brian Ashley in his Austin A35 , Chris Jones in the unusual Fairthorpe Electron and John Huntley in the great sounding Palliser single seater.

With the 2016 BOC / Aldon Championship now in its final stages the overall championship picture is becoming clearer. Mike Henney (MG Midget / Ginetta G15) & Callum Barney (Ford Cortina GT) are very evenly matched on points. Both are unlikely to be beaten by any runners from the racing car class this year. Mike and Callum are now also both in the position of dropping scores having driven more than 7 rounds each. Going into the AMOC Curborough meeting trailing by a single point Callum can only better his score with class results of 3rd place and above , Mike can only pull away with a 4th in class or better.

It should make the final Prescott meeting very interesting!.
