Round 12 - Prescott

The last round of 2016 was blessed with some very lucky weather conditions following a particularly cold and soggy preceding days event at Prescott. Luckily the paddock wasnt too wet and muddy so moving cars off the grass was possible!.

With the Overall Champion already decided, and the class leaders reasonably secure, it was mostly a day of class battles to determine the lower class podium positions for the year.

In Saloon cars Calum Barney (Cortina Mk1 GT) had already done enough for the class victory leaving Ian Stainburn , Simon Braithwaite & Brian Ashley fighting for 2nd & 3rd places. With Brian finishing 2nd on the day & Simon 3rd the final positions were Ian Stainburn in 2nd place for the year , with Brian & Simon tied for 3rd for the year. Brian wins this on a tie-break with some higher points finishes throughout the season (2 wins). Class winner on the day was Roger Beard in his Scimitar Coupe ending his first season in the championship in fine style.

Sportscars was much more unpredictable with 1st , 2nd and 3rd places for the year far from settled with Mike Henney taken out of the equation because of his Overall Win.
A fine result of 1st on the day saw Chris Jones jump up the order to reach 1st place in Sportscars for the year , Philip Stader clung on to 2nd having dropped many scores throughout the season, 3rd place for the year going to Steve Phennah in his MGB. John Newton unfortunately dropped to 4th place having been in the top few all season - and travelling a long way to every round!

In the Single seater class the championship order was maintained throughout the meeting with the honours going to Martin Jones in his beautiful Brabham BT21 from Nick Stephens in the Lotus and Grant Cratchley in another Brabham. Positions on the day were Briony Serrell winning in her Lotus , from John Huntley in the Palliser F2 from Grant Cratchley.
