Round 3 - Wiscombe

Wiscombe........what a day!!

The sun was out yet there was a slight chill in the air when we arrived at Wiscombe Park giving the track a slightly slippy feel for the first practice of the day. Everybody pushed very hard over both practice sessions although nobody managed to beat their initial handicaps. Keith Wilson, Lawrence Alexander and Gary Cox however were still all very quick.

After practice and a little jiggling by the Championships Illustrious Handicapper (and Gary) new handicaps were put in place to ready for the afternoons times run

By the time the first timed runs started the track had warmed up nicely and the times started to drop. Christopher Wigdor in the C Type Jaguar looked particularly quick off the line and very fast up to Bunny Leaps and on to the Gate on both of his timed runs as did Callum Barney in the Cortina GT and Iain Stainburn in the Scimitar with all three knocking seconds of their practice times. Mike Henney in the MG Midget and Steve Phennah in the MGB managed to get below their handicaps with a couple of very nice clean runs both knocking a couple of seconds off. Jeremy Rivers Fletcher who was determined to beat his PB and ever the crowd pleaser gave the crowd a great show and had a dice with the grass and nettles arriving in the top paddock with a few nettles still attached!!

Both Keith and Gary pulled a couple of great times off on their last runs with very quick times of 50.10 and 46.76 respectively. Philip Stader managed a somewhat frightening run of 48.36 with Lawrence hitting a fast 48.53
