This was a slightly unconventional meeting at Prescott , taking place on the Saturday of a 'double header' weekend consisting of two separate events. It was unusual being almost entirely devoid of modern single seaters.
The BOC / Aldon championship was very well represented with a massive spread of cars pretty evenly distributed between the three classes. It was rather unfortunate that we were in several places throughout the paddock - definitely a missed opportunity by the organisers to put the whole 'circus' together.
A warm / dry day , although thankfully somewhat cooler than the preceding week, saw some fierce competition in all classes. Roughly a second (or less) covered the top 5 positions on handicap in all catagories. Steve Louch (Saloons) , Briony Serrell (Single seaters) & Mike Fisher (Sportscars) being three new winners this year - well done to all !.
Fastest drivers on scratch were Garry Cox in his 'Lemon Slice' Scimitar GT on 49.71 seconds , a touch off his personal best , Philip Stader in the green MG Midget on 51.75 (when it wasnt off the road grass cutting!) , and Nick Stephens in his immaculate Lotus 51 on 47.42 seconds.
It was good to see the return of Martin Jones in his Brabham , still recovering from his leg badly broken in a winter skiing accident.
Philip Stader trying quite hard in the MG Midget !
