Following the Shelsley Walsh monsoon conditions things couldn't have been much more different at Harewood Hillclimb only a few days later!. A warm weekend was forecast , and as we have rapidly got used to this summer, it was fully delivered. Lots of hot drivers were to be found lurking anywhere they could find shade between practice and timed runs throughout the day.
Saloon cars had a small entry and was headed both on scratch & handicap by Simon Braithwaite who had lowered his PB in practice (and was given this as a new handicap) but still went faster again in the afternoon runs. Matt Clarke once again put in some unbelievable times in the Mini Mk1 to come second, lowering his already amazing time by nearly another half second. Steve Holder in another Mini came third. Andy Clarke ended up in the Farmhouse gravel trap on his first run & was being a little more cautious on the second.
Callum Barney was victorious in Sportscars driving the green MG Midget. Nick Stephens was in his lovely Ginetta ,giving the Lotus 51 a well deserved rest, and setting a new PB with this car at the venue en-route to second place. Steve Phennah took third in the MGB roadster.
David Owen set a really good Formula Ford 1600 time in his Merlyn Mk11. Les Buck was next in another FF1600 followed by Philip Stader in the Mallock. Philip also taking FTD within the B.O.C. championship runners.
Martin Jones & Andy Tippett (both in Brabhams) set 2nd & 3rd overall fastest times on the day.
